Just learned about The 5 Gyres Institute earlier this year, an organization working to solve the ever growing problem of plastic pollution in the world’s oceans and lakes. Co-Founders Anna Cummins and Marcus Eriksen Marcus started 5 Gyres in 2009 “with the simple goal of putting plastic pollution on the international agenda” and through the years there’s been 17 expeditions and numerous research papers, all contributing to a better understanding of this massive problem.
